VinNumber.net is an informational vehicle history service that allows users to look up VIN-based data associated with vehicles registered in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you when you visit our website.
We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you use the service.
We do not collect payment information directly. Any paid report transactions are handled by our third-party data partners, who operate under their own privacy policies.
Information we collect is used for the following purposes:
We do not sell your personal data. We do not build advertising profiles based on your search history. Individual VIN queries are not linked to personal identifiers and are not disclosed to third parties except where required by law.
When you access a vehicle history report through VinNumber.net, you may be directed to a report provided by a third-party data partner. These partners have access to the VIN or plate number you submitted in order to return a result. Their data handling practices are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review before submitting a report request.
We may also use third-party analytics tools to understand aggregate visitor behavior. These tools may set their own cookies in accordance with their privacy terms.
VinNumber.net uses first-party cookies to store your language preference (English or Spanish) and to track sessions for operational purposes. We do not use third-party behavioral advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so may affect language persistence and certain site features but will not prevent you from using the VIN lookup service.
Web server access logs are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted. Contact form submissions are retained for as long as necessary to resolve the inquiry and then deleted. VIN query logs are retained in aggregated, non-identifiable form for service improvement purposes.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal data we collect and the right to request deletion of that data.
VinNumber.net is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We apply standard technical safeguards — including HTTPS encryption on all pages — to protect data transmitted to and from our service. No method of internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service following any change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
